About

Synopsis

Lean on Pete (2018) is a quiet, bruising road drama from British director Andrew Haigh — watch it online on iFILM. Charlie Plummer plays fifteen-year-old Charley Thompson, a kid drifting through Portland with a checked-out father and no real plan, until a summer job mucking stalls for horse trainer Del Montgomery gives him something to hold onto.

When Charley finds out that Del's aging quarter horse, Pete, is bound for slaughter, he steals the animal and heads east on foot — across desert and scrubland toward Idaho, where a long-lost aunt might still be waiting. Steve Buscemi, Travis Fimmel and Chloë Sevigny pass through as the kind of worn-down adults the road keeps producing. Haigh strips every last scrap of sentiment out of the journey; what's left is a boy and a horse crossing a country that has very little room for either of them. Stream Lean on Pete (2018) on iFILM.
