Synopsis
Watch Looking: The Movie (2016) online on iFILM — the HBO film that closed out the Looking series, directed by Andrew Haigh. Nearly a year after leaving San Francisco, Patrick (Jonathan Groff) comes back to celebrate a milestone with his old circle. He tells himself it's just for the weekend.
It isn't just for the weekend. Agustín (Frankie J. Alvarez) and Dom (Murray Bartlett) have moved their lives forward in ways Patrick hasn't, and the unresolved ends he left behind — Richie (Raúl Castillo) and Kevin (Russell Tovey) — are still right there, waiting for him to say something definitive. The city looks the same. Everything else has quietly shifted.
Haigh shoots it the way he shot the series: close, patient, unhurried, with San Francisco's particular light doing real work in the frame. At 85 minutes it doesn't overstay. For viewers who followed the show, it's a proper goodbye; watched cold, it holds up as a low-key character study about the gap between who you left behind and who you've become.
