The Royle Family (1998) is a British sitcom created by Caroline Aherne and Craig Cash — stream all seasons online on iFILM. The entire show takes place inside one room: the living room of a working-class Manchester home, where the family watches television every evening.

Jim Royle (Ricky Tomlinson) rules the sofa and the remote. His wife Barbara (Sue Johnston) runs the household without expecting thanks. Daughter Denise lives at home with her lad fiancé David, while son Antony occupies the edges of everyone's awareness. The camera barely moves. Nothing much happens. Aherne and Cash use this studied stillness to pack in everything the genre usually skips: class friction, marital fatigue, and the specific, inarticulate tenderness of people who cannot say they love each other directly.
