Synopsis
The War (1994) is an American drama directed by Jon Avnet, starring Kevin Costner and Elijah Wood — stream it online on iFILM. Set in the rural Deep South in the early 1970s, the film follows a Vietnam veteran who came home but never quite left the jungle, and the son who watches it all happen.
Costner's Stu Simmons works odd jobs, battles flashbacks, and tries to be the kind of father he's not sure he knows how to be. His son Stu Jr., played by a young Elijah Wood, is navigating local bullies and bigger questions — why men fight, whether it ever solves anything, and what courage actually looks like away from a battlefield. Director Avnet shoots the Mississippi summer with a sun-faded warmth that makes the hardship sting more, not less.
