Synopsis

The Osterman Weekend (1983) is an American spy thriller you can watch online on iFILM — Sam Peckinpah's final film, with Rutger Hauer, John Hurt, Burt Lancaster, Dennis Hopper and Craig T. Nelson.

TV journalist John Tanner is pulled into a CIA operation: the agency claims that his three closest friends — a lawyer, a financier and a Hollywood screenwriter — are members of a Soviet intelligence network called Omega. Tanner is pressured into hosting his usual autumn weekend gathering while the CIA watches from the walls. By the first night, it is clear that someone in the house is lying. The question is which side of the camera is actually running the operation.

Adapted from Robert Ludlum's 1972 novel, the film trades Peckinpah's usual kinetic brutality for something colder — surveillance footage as a weapon, paranoia as the dominant mood. The idea of domestic space turned into a monitored kill zone felt ahead of its time in 1983. Stream The Osterman Weekend (1983) online on iFILM.
