Sleepwalk with Me (2012) — watch online on iFILM. Stand-up comic Mike Birbiglia wrote, directed and stars in this deadpan indie comedy drawn from his own stage show and very real sleepwalking disorder. His alter ego Matt is trapped somewhere between a stalled comedy career, a relationship he can't bring himself to either commit to or leave, and night terrors that keep ending with him jumping out of motel windows.

Lauren Ambrose plays Abby with a patience that quietly breaks your heart. The film was co-produced by Ira Glass, and that radio-documentary sensibility is all over it — the jokes land sideways, nothing is oversold. Kristen Schaal, Alex Karpovsky and Aya Cash round out the ensemble in sharp supporting turns.

Birbiglia talks directly to the camera throughout, and it somehow makes the whole thing feel more honest rather than gimmicky. It's a small film that knows exactly how small it is — and works every inch of that space. Watch Sleepwalk with Me (2012) online on iFILM.
