The personal stakes climb this time. Out of nowhere, Sam lands the role of a father and has to figure out caretaking while staying exactly as prickly as before. The past sends a bill too: a brutal album review he once wrote turns out to have wrecked a real life, far more than he ever realized. Then the group's hot-tempered former leader walks back in, and the friction between them is instant. Claire takes up with a new guy, Ben reveals a few odd talents, and somewhere in the middle of it all Loudermilk finally admits he was wrong.
