The series takes that historical thread and pulls it into dark fantasy territory — mechs, sorcery, political violence — with its own timeline. The Yasuke we meet here has long since put down the sword. He runs a boat. He wants to be left alone. That ends when a girl with powers she can't control ends up in his care and the wrong people come looking.
