The kids stumble on an abandoned, half-wrecked Jaeger — a giant war robot that needs two pilots locked in a neural bridge to move at all. They learn to drive it from scratch, out in wastelands crawling with monsters. Every time they step into the conn-pod their minds fuse, and one pilot's memories and fear bleed straight into the other. Along the way a strange child joins them, and that traveling companion is anything but harmless.

Polygon Pictures, the studio behind the CG Star Wars: The Clone Wars, gives the show a grim, far-from-kid-friendly tone: huge brawls sit next to a raw survival story about two teens with no adults left.
