Synopsis
Indochine (1992) is a French epic drama you can watch online on iFILM. Director Régis Wargnier set the story across colonial Vietnam in the 1930s, following two women — one French, one Vietnamese — as the country they live in moves toward revolution. The film claimed the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film.
Éliane (Catherine Deneuve) runs a rubber plantation and has raised Camille, her adopted Vietnamese daughter (Linh-Dan Pham), as her own. When a young naval officer Jean-Baptiste (Vincent Pérez) passes through their lives, both women fall for him. He's stationed far to the north, and Camille — still a teenager — sets off alone to find him, crossing a land where colonial order is fracturing at the edges. What starts as a love story opens into something much wider: displacement, loyalty, and what people will set aside in the name of a country that was never really theirs.
Deneuve carries the film's emotional weight without any of the usual theatrical collapses — it's a performance built from silences and restraint. At 153 minutes, the film earns its runtime. Stream Indochine (1992) online on iFILM.
