Synopsis
The Decameron (2024), Season 1 is a Netflix black comedy you can watch online on iFILM — eight episodes set as the plague tears through Florence. A clutch of nobles and their servants flee to a countryside villa, certain the lavish getaway will keep death outside the gates.
It does not. Pampinea plays the perfect hostess while frantically hunting for a fiancé nobody can find. Neifile loses both her faith and her illusions about the man she married. A maid named Licisca and her runaway mistress Filomena swap places until rank stops meaning anything, and a rival heir turns up to claim the house out from under everyone. Then the mercenaries arrive, and survival comes down to one ugly bargain.
Kathleen Jennings loosely riffs on Boccaccio's stories: the closer the dying gets, the louder the feasting and the pettier the feuds.
