Synopsis
One Strange Rock (2018) is a National Geographic documentary series you can watch online on iFILM, hosted by Will Smith. Ten episodes, each built around a different question about why Earth works the way it does — where oxygen actually comes from, why the moon is exactly the right size, how the water cycle passes through living bodies and back to the ocean.
The show's answers come through ten real astronauts — Chris Hadfield, Mae Jemison, Peggy Whitson, Michael Massimino among them — who describe what the planet looked like from orbit and what that did to how they think about it. Executive producer Darren Aronofsky shaped the editing closer to a thriller than a nature program: the pacing is propulsive, the structure is built around reveals.
