Synopsis

Low-ranking swordsman Gennosuke kills one of his clan's ministers as part of a reform scheme — and then discovers he has been set up and left to hang. A fugitive in the mountains, he runs into a ragged band of men panning the shogun's gold illegally, a crime that carries the death penalty. His options: keep running alone, or dig in alongside them and fight for something resembling a second chance.
