Synopsis
Boeing, Boeing (1965) is a door-slamming Parisian farce you can watch online on iFILM. American journalist Bernard has juggled three flight-attendant fiancées for years, each flying a different airline, each home only every third day. The whole arrangement runs like clockwork — until the timetables change.
Tony Curtis is Bernard, the smooth operator whose love life depends on airline schedules. Jerry Lewis plays his visiting friend Robert, who stumbles into the deception and ends up covering for it. Caught in the middle is Thelma Ritter as the long-suffering maid Berta, swapping the photographs on the wall and the food on the table every time a different woman walks in. When faster jets cut the flight times, all three start showing up on the same day, and the apartment turns into a circus of near-misses and slamming doors. Adapted from Marc Camoletti's stage hit, the film lives or dies on timing, and Curtis and Lewis bounce off each other beautifully. A treat if you love old-school mistaken-identity comedy.
