Synopsis
Bhoothnath Returns (2014) is a Bollywood fantasy comedy with a sharp civic streak, and you can watch online on iFILM. The gentle ghost Bhoothnath comes back to the land of the living a laughingstock among other spirits, so he sets out to scare a child and win back some respect.
What he finds instead is Akhrot, a slum boy who is the only one able to see him. Together they aim at the scariest monster around — a crooked politician in the middle of an election. A ghost who cannot even vote ends up running for office himself. Amitabh Bachchan anchors it with warm, easy charm, while young Parth Bhalerao holds his own beside the legend.
Director Nitesh Tiwari, later of Dangal, wraps a satire about dirty politics inside a family fable full of songs and gags. It runs long and plays naive, but it means every word and lands as oddly topical. One for Bollywood fans and lovers of feel-good cinema with a message.
