Friday Night Dinner (2011), Season 5 — six episodes, 2018, watch online on iFILM as the Goodmans come back to the table with a garden hot tub, a ventriloquist dummy, and the usual quantity of chaos.
After the through-lines of seasons three and four, Season 5 returns to pure episodic form. Mum and Dad get a hot tub installed, to the visible horror of Adam and Jonny. Val moves into the house and almost immediately uncovers a tin of 20-year-old meat Dad had been keeping in his shed. Mum decides to throw herself a surprise party and lets Dad handle part of the organisation; the results are as you would expect. Dad produces an old ventriloquist dummy called Lord Luck from storage and refuses to put it away. Adam is made to play violin for Mum and Val while Jonny enjoys every second. The finale trades on a wooden shelf, the threat of no crumble for dessert, and Jim's dog Wilson repeatedly doing his business in the flowerbed.
