Synopsis
C.O.G. (2013) is a wry indie drama you can watch online on iFILM. A cocky Yale graduate ditches his comfortable life and heads to an Oregon apple farm to do manual labor. He came looking for meaning. He found mud, exhaustion and people who saw right through him.
David, played by Jonathan Groff, picks apples beside migrant workers, sleeps in a cramped trailer, and learns fast that his bookish arrogance buys him nothing out here. Everyone he meets chips away at him — the farm owner, a coworker with wandering hands, and a born-again stone-carver who wants to save his soul. Denis O'Hare is quietly unnerving as the preacher.
Director Kyle Patrick Alvarez adapted the film from David Sedaris's autobiographical essay, the first time the writer's work reached the screen. Awkward, restrained and honest about a young man's collapsing ego. Stream C.O.G. (2013) online on iFILM.
