My Little Loves

My Little Loves (Mes petites amoureuses, 1974) is a French drama by Jean Eustache you can watch online on iFILM. Daniel lives with his grandmother in the countryside and expects to go on with school. Then his mother takes him south to the cramped apartment she shares with her boyfriend José, where there is no money for a lycée.

Daniel ends up apprenticed at a moped repair workshop. He meets other kids, meets girls, figures out work and boredom and desire in roughly that order. Eustache — who had made La Maman et la Putain the year before — shoots without a score and without editorial comment, letting scenes run until they settle into something like memory rather than story.
