Monk (2002), Season 1 — a 12-episode detective comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM. Adrian Monk was the sharpest detective in San Francisco. Then his wife was murdered, the case stayed cold, and the grief rewired him: severe OCD, a phone-book's worth of phobias, no badge.
The SFPD brings him back as a private consultant, and Season 1 delivers twelve closed cases in a row. An assassination attempt on a mayoral candidate, a suspect who literally cannot fit through his own bedroom door, a killing pulled off during a citywide marathon with a GPS alibi — each episode is a self-contained puzzle built around one strange detail. His nurse Sharona Fleming manages the logistics of keeping Monk on his feet and pointed toward the front door, and the show leans into their odd-couple dynamic from episode one.
USA Network launched the series in 2002, and Tony Shalhoub collected four consecutive Emmy wins for the role — the first season already makes clear why.
