A decade earlier a ship carrying the Atrian species crash-landed on Earth. The survivors were rounded up and penned behind wire in a sealed camp, treated as a threat from day one. Now eight Atrian teenagers are sent into an ordinary suburban high school for the first time — an experiment meant to prove two species can share a classroom. Emery and Roman knew each other as kids, and the old feeling reignites fast, even as half the town sees the Atrians as enemies and the authorities look for any reason to shut the program down.

Strip away the spaceships and it's Romeo and Juliet: feuding sides, fear of the outsider, and a first love no one will let breathe.
