Synopsis
House of the Dead (2003) is a zombie horror film you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Uwe Boll and based on the Sega arcade game of the same name. A group of college students hires a boat to reach an island where a rave is supposed to be happening. What they find instead is an island overrun with the undead.
The skipper ferrying them over is Captain Salish, played by Jürgen Prochnow. Once ashore, the group realises the party never happened and survival is now the only agenda. The film is a Canadian-German-American co-production running 90 minutes, notable for cutting in actual footage from the video game — a stylistic choice that landed with very mixed reactions.
This is genre trash that knows it is genre trash. Prochnow and Clint Howard deliver the material with a straight face, which paradoxically makes certain scenes funnier than intended.
