TV-14Synopsis
Whitechapel Season 1 — watch online on iFILM: three episodes of ITV's crime drama set in 2009 London. A killer is moving through East London's streets copying the Jack the Ripper murders of 1888 — same dates, same methods, same Whitechapel geography.
DI Joseph Chandler (Rupert Penry-Jones) is assigned to lead the investigation: a fast-tracked career officer more comfortable with procedure than a manhunt this strange. His blunt, experienced DS and an obsessive Ripper historian make up the team, and none of them quite speak the same language. The historical record is working against them — only one more murder remains to complete the copycat's sequence, and Chandler is close to breaking point before the answer comes. Season 1 is a tight three-part miniseries: the Victorian shadow hanging over modern East London does more work than the plot twists, and that's exactly what makes it worth watching.
