Synopsis
Museum (ミュージアム, 2016) is a Japanese thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Keishi Otomo, the director of the live-action Rurouni Kenshin films, adapted Ryosuke Tomoe's grim manga into a rain-soaked nightmare. A killer in a frog mask and yellow raincoat strikes only during downpours, staging each murder as a sick "exhibit" complete with a printed sentence for the victim.
Detective Sawamura, played by Shun Oguri, catches the case and quickly works out the horror behind the pattern: the victims aren't random, and his own estranged wife and young son are next on the list. The hunt collapses the line between his job and his family until there's no clean way out. Otomo skips the tidy procedural and goes for something nastier — visceral, dripping, built on the dread of a culprit who's always one move ahead, with the rain functioning almost as a second villain. Not for squeamish viewers, but a real find for anyone who likes savage Asian crime cinema in the vein of Confessions or I Saw the Devil. Stream Museum (2016) online on iFILM.
