Recess (1997), Season 2 — Disney's schoolyard cartoon you can watch online on iFILM, 25 episodes of fourth-grade politics at Third Street Elementary.
The playground runs on its own rules, and T.J.'s crew defends them every recess. Season two scatters the gang across a year of small wars. A writing assignment forces everyone to pick a single "best friend" and nearly splits the group, a hypnotized Principal Prickly starts acting like a six-year-old, and a creepy board game called Ajimbo sweeps the whole school. T.J. builds an entire playground economy, the kids challenge a rival team from 98th Street at kickball, and Spinelli ends up in a beauty pageant she never wanted. The episodes stand alone, yet the characters pick up real shading along the way.
Created by Paul Germain and Joe Ansolabehere, the show keeps its trick of viewing grown-up problems through kid logic, no lectures attached. Season two feels steadier than the first and a little bolder with its jokes. Stream Recess Season 2 online on iFILM.
