Synopsis
Occupied (Okkupert, 2015) is a Norwegian political thriller you can watch online on iFILM. In the near future, a new green Norwegian government shuts down North Sea oil and gas production — and triggers a crisis Europe never planned for.
With the European Union's blessing, Russia moves in for a "soft" occupation meant to get the oil flowing again. There are no tanks in the streets, yet the Norwegian prime minister (Henrik Mestad) becomes a hostage of someone else's strategy, while ordinary people — a journalist, a bodyguard, a restaurant owner — keep redrawing the line between cooperation and betrayal one day at a time. Ingeborga Dapkunaite turns up among the Russian cast as the ambassador.
Built from an idea by crime novelist Jo Nesbø, the show skips the action-movie beats for a cold study of how occupation arrives through compromise rather than gunfire. Three seasons, a Norway–Sweden–France co-production that set off a genuine diplomatic row with Moscow when it aired. Stream every season of Occupied online on iFILM.
