Nina

Nina (2016) is a biopic of Nina Simone you can watch online on iFILM. Zoe Saldana plays the jazz singer and classical pianist in her later years, when the fame was already won but her health, money and temper were coming apart.

The film follows Simone's bond with Clifton Henderson, the manager who helped pull her back from the edge — played by David Oyelowo. There's no victory lap here. It leans into the harder stuff: a brilliant, furious woman worn down by talent, addiction and a lifetime spent fighting for civil rights. Director Cynthia Mort keeps her prickly and human.

The movie arrived under a cloud of controversy over Saldana's casting and makeup, and that argument trailed it everywhere. Look past the noise, though, and it reads as a sincere attempt to weigh what stardom costs a Black artist who stood decades ahead of the room. Stream Nina (2016) online on iFILM.
