From a Whisper to a Scream (1987) is Jeff Burr's horror anthology, available to watch online on iFILM. In the town of Oldfield, serial killer Katherine White has just gone to the chair. That same evening a reporter shows up at the door of her uncle Julian, an aging librarian, looking for an interview — and instead gets four tales proving the evil here never dies out.

Vincent Price plays Julian, and his voice alone keeps the wraparound humming with menace. Then come the stories, each grimmer than the last. A lonely old man refuses to let his beloved go, even past the grave. A wounded fugitive stumbles onto a backwoods hermit guarding the secret of eternal life. A carnival woman falls for a glass-eating sideshow act. And a band of Union soldiers ends up captive to a houseful of orphans with very grown-up plans for them.
