Deranged

Deranged (1974) is a Canadian horror picture from directors Jeff Gillen and Alan Ormsby, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Rural Wisconsin farmer Ezra Cobb has spent his whole life under a domineering mother who drilled into him that every woman is wicked. When she dies, the last hinge on his mind comes loose.

A year after the burial, Ezra creeps out to the cemetery and brings his mother's body back to the house. He teaches himself taxidermy, patching her up with wax and skin, and soon goes hunting for fresher material than the graveyard can offer. Roberts Blossom plays the killer as a soft-spoken, almost pitiable neighbor, which is exactly what makes his politeness so unnerving.

It draws on the same Wisconsin case that fed Psycho and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre: real-life murderer Ed Gein. This was also the first feature to use Tom Savini's gore effects, and it shows the grisly props rather than implying them — a grimy, unglamorous watch for fans of vintage horror.
