Necronomicon

Necronomicon (1993) is a French-American-Japanese horror anthology you can watch online on iFILM. The framing story follows H.P. Lovecraft himself — played by Jeffrey Combs — breaking into a monastery archive to read the fabled Book of the Dead. What he finds inside is three tales, each directed by a different filmmaker: Christophe Gans, Shusuke Kaneko, and Brian Yuzna.

The three segments hit different corners of the genre. "The Drowned" is a gothic romance gone wrong, built around a man who won't accept that some things stay dead. "The Cold" follows a doctor hunting the secret of immortality, with predictably grim results. "Whispers" goes full creature-feature in the tunnels beneath a city. Yuzna, one of the minds behind Re-Animator, produced the whole project — and his taste for wet, practical body horror runs through all three.
