Synopsis

The Myth (2005) is a Hong Kong action-adventure you can watch online on iFILM, starring Jackie Chan as Jack, an archaeologist pulled into a quest for the tomb of China's first emperor. The catch: he keeps dreaming he is a Han dynasty general who once died for a princess he was ordered to protect.

The film runs on two tracks at once. In the past, Jack fights battles across a magnificent imperial court and falls for a princess played by Kim Hee-seon. In the present, he and a scientist colleague chase physical proof of the legend through India and China, running into Tony Leung Ka-fai and Mallika Sherawat along the way. The two timelines tangle in ways that are deliberately left open — myth or memory, the film doesn't fully decide, and that ambiguity is part of the charm.

Chan does his own stunts, naturally. Directed by Stanley Tong, The Myth is a big, warm-hearted genre film that doesn't pretend to be anything else — and that honesty makes it easier to enjoy. Stream The Myth (2005) online on iFILM.
