Synopsis
Coco Chanel (2008) is Christian Duguay's biographical drama, and you can watch it online on iFILM. It traces the woman who reshaped twentieth-century fashion, from a convent orphanage to her own couture house.
Shirley MacLaine plays the older Coco, with Barbora Bobulová as young Gabrielle. The film moves backward through time — the orphanage, singing in provincial cabarets, poverty, and the men who lifted her up and then let her down. One of them is a wealthy patron played by Malcolm McDowell. Running alongside is her later comeback, when an aging Chanel unveils a collection that skeptics greet coldly.
Duguay delivers a classic costume biopic: smooth rather than sharp, but rich in period detail and clothes. MacLaine anchors it with quiet dignity, and she's the main reason to press play. It fits viewers who like stories of stubborn self-made women and early-century fashion. Stream Coco Chanel online on iFILM.
