Synopsis
I Saw the TV Glow (2024) is an A24 horror drama you can watch online on iFILM. It's the second feature from writer-director Jane Schoenbrun, a film about loneliness, late-night television and a reality that quietly comes apart.
The story opens in the suburbs of the mid-1990s. Withdrawn teenager Owen (Justice Smith) falls in with an older girl, Maddy (Brigette Lundy-Paine), who hooks him on a strange after-hours show called The Pink Opaque, where two friends battle a villain who lives on the moon. Owen sneaks out to catch episodes while Maddy tapes the ones he misses. Then she vanishes without a trace, and the line between the show and his own life starts to bend.
Schoenbrun skips jump scares for a slow, hypnotic dread, the kind that creeps up while you wonder whether you've been living someone else's life. Neon-soaked images, an indie-heavy soundtrack and a low electric hum turn VHS-era nostalgia into something genuinely unsettling.
