Synopsis

The Tiger (대호, 2015) is a South Korean historical action drama you can watch online on iFILM. The year is 1925, Japanese colonial rule is tightening across the peninsula, and a Japanese military official has ordered his men to capture the last Amur tiger in Korea — a massive animal the locals call the King of the Mountains.

Choi Min-sik, known internationally for Oldboy, plays Chun Man-deok, once the most feared hunter in the country. He quit the trade after losing his wife and wants nothing more to do with it. The Japanese recruiters push anyway. His son, after a bitter argument, decides to join the hunting party himself. Director Park Hoon-jung frames the pursuit as something closer to a reckoning than an adventure: two aging creatures, man and tiger, each carrying losses the other cannot articulate.

The location photography in the mountains is striking, and the film earns its long running time through patience rather than spectacle. It treats the tiger as a symbol of everything the occupation is trying to erase — and that gives the hunt real weight. Stream The Tiger (2015) online on iFILM.
