Synopsis
Fire Island (2022) is a romantic comedy directed by Andrew Ahn, available to watch online on iFILM. Joel Kim Booster wrote the script and stars: a group of queer friends descends on Fire Island Pines for their annual summer week, and romantic chaos follows before they can even unpack.
Booster's screenplay is a deliberate riff on Pride and Prejudice — his character Noah is Lydia Bennet reimagined, hustling to get his quieter best friend Howie (Bowen Yang) a summer romance while his own feelings run into someone he'd rather dislike. Surrounding them: drugs, drinks, and the kind of class friction Austen wrapped in drawing-room propriety. Margaret Cho and Conrad Ricamora also appear.
