Once a year these eight friends gather to talk honestly about what's really going on at home. The most volatile couple, Patricia and Gavin, played by Janet Jackson and Malik Yoba, anchors the film's heaviest emotional turn. Around them, Tasha Smith fires off her trademark arguments, and Dwayne Johnson drops in for a small role.

Perry mixes broad comedy with hard conversations about loyalty, pride and forgiveness. It sometimes pushes too far, yet the ending lands hard — especially a Jackson scene worth staying through the credits for.
