Synopsis
Brother 2 (2000) is a Russian cult action film you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Aleksei Balabanov and starring Sergei Bodrov Jr. as Danila Bagrov, the film picks up its antihero in Moscow — a Chechen War vet who operates on his own code of justice rather than anything resembling the law.
The trigger is a chance reunion with an old army friend who turns up dead shortly after. The friend's brother is a hockey player trapped in a fraudulent contract with an American club, money owed and no legal recourse. Danila's solution: fly to Chicago and collect. He brings his brother Viktor (Viktor Sukhorukov) along — the same man who betrayed him in the first film — and the two land in a city where both the Russian and American criminal worlds are already waiting for them.
Balabanov made the sequel faster and louder than the original, trading St. Petersburg's grime for a cross-country American road movie with a distinctly Russian outlook. The line "where's the power?" became one of Russian cinema's most quoted phrases. Decades later, Brother 2 still holds as a sharp, politically charged action film with a lead performance that never needed to shout. Stream Brother 2 (2000) online on iFILM.
