Synopsis
Sturgill Simpson Presents Sound & Fury (2019) is an animated visual album you can watch online on iFILM — forty minutes of anime built around country-rock musician Sturgill Simpson's record of the same name.
There isn't a single line of dialogue. A masked driver tears through a scorched postapocalyptic wasteland toward a showdown with two monstrous foes. Expect samurai duels, neon ruins and war machines, all pounded along by heavy guitar.
The animation comes from heavyweights of the Japanese scene, with Koji Morimoto and Tekkonkinkreet director Michael Arias among the names behind it. It isn't a music video and it isn't a conventional story, but forty minutes of pure momentum where anime collides with heavy-metal attitude.
