Synopsis
London Spy (2015) is a BBC miniseries you can watch online on iFILM. Forget gunfights and gadgets — this is a slow, aching story of love and loss. Ben Whishaw plays Danny, an open, drifting young man from the city's clubbing scene who falls for Alex, a withdrawn financier played by Edward Holcroft.
Their romance unfolds quietly and tenderly until Alex vanishes, then turns up dead in circumstances the police are quick to file away as a sordid accident. Danny doesn't buy it. He has no contacts, no training and no money, only stubbornness and grief, and he carries them straight into the British intelligence world, where every smiling stranger might be a threat. Jim Broadbent plays an older friend whose kindness is hard to read, and Charlotte Rampling appears as Alex's glacial mother.
Writer Tom Rob Smith builds the five episodes as intimate paranoia, favouring held looks and silences over chases. Whishaw carries it with raw, exposed vulnerability, and the series lands harder as emotion than as plot puzzle. It suits viewers who love bleak British thrillers where the real mystery is who can be trusted at all. Stream every episode of London Spy (2015) online on iFILM.
