Synopsis
Gentleman Jim (1942) is a sports biography you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Raoul Walsh with Errol Flynn as Jim Corbett — the San Francisco bank clerk who traded brute-force slugging for footwork and ended up rewriting the heavyweight division.
Corbett fights his way from local bouts to a challenge of John L. Sullivan's crown, the last great champion of the bare-knuckle era, played here by Ward Bond. Off the canvas, Jim chases entry into San Francisco society with the same energy he brings to the ring — charming enough to get in the door, abrasive enough to get thrown back out. Flynn carries the role with loose, physical confidence, which is exactly what the part needs.
Walsh keeps the tone light and the pace moving — this is a film about a man who wins, and it commits to that without apology. Stream Gentleman Jim (1942) online on iFILM.
