Synopsis
Zoey's Extraordinary Christmas (2021) is a musical comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM. This feature-length follow-up to Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist finds its heroine still hearing other people's emotions as full song-and-dance numbers, now facing her first holidays without her dad.
Zoey, played by Jane Levy, sets out to build the perfect Christmas for her family — the kind her father Mitch used to pull off. Magic doesn't come on cue, though: gift shopping grates on her, and every stranger on the street breaks into song, dumping their grief and longing right onto her. Skylar Astin, Alex Newell and Peter Gallagher reprise their roles, with Bernadette Peters and Mary Steenburgen bringing some real Broadway lungs to the mix.
Director Richard Shepard treats it almost like a stage musical, stitching the songs straight into everyday scenes so the mourning and the dance breaks share the same room.
