Synopsis
The Valhalla Murders (Brot, 2019) is an Icelandic crime series in the Nordic noir tradition that you can watch online on iFILM. Detective Arnar is summoned home to Reykjavik, where the police are facing the first serial killer in the country's history.
Leading the case is Kata, an investigator her male colleagues keep underestimating. Paired with the guarded outsider Arnar, she works a string of killings whose threads all run back to a shuttered home for troubled boys that burned down thirty-five years earlier. The deeper the two dig, the clearer it gets: someone is settling old debts one by one, and Arnar's own past is bound up with that place more tightly than he'll admit.
Directed by Thordur Palsson and Thora Hilmarsdottir, the eight episodes are steeped in the grey light of an Icelandic winter, trading car chases for slow dread and long silences.
