Hogan's Heroes (Seasons 1–6)
I see nothing; I know nothing
Synopsis
Hogan's Heroes — watch it online on iFILM — ran 168 episodes on CBS from 1965 to 1971, making it one of the longest-running military comedies in American television. Six seasons set inside a German prisoner-of-war camp where the prisoners are clearly running the place.
Colonel Hogan (Bob Crane) leads a multiracial crew of Allied POWs who have tunnelled under the entire camp, operate a radio post, and routinely sabotage the German war effort from inside their barracks. Commandant Klink (Werner Klemperer) is pompous, paranoid about his own superiors, and consistently outmanoeuvred. Sergeant Schultz (John Banner) sees everything and claims to know nothing. His catchphrase became a pop-culture fixture.
Created by Bernard Fein and Albert S. Ruddy, the show's real gamble was treating a World War II prison camp as a comedy stage — and sustaining it for six seasons without the joke wearing thin. Almost no series has attempted that tonal tightrope since, let alone pulled it off. Stream all seasons of Hogan's Heroes online on iFILM.
