Having slipped away after the first film, Beck has taken a new name and gone to ground in Mexico. When he rescues a drowning teenage girl from the surf, he falls hard — and starts working his way into her life one helpful gesture at a time, until her gratitude becomes a trap she cannot see closing. Director Doug Campbell keeps it lean and unpretentious, a solid Friday-night TV movie that knows exactly what it is. Half the fun is watching Roberts clearly relish playing a soft-spoken predator who narrates his own delusions. It promises nothing more than a sturdy weekend thriller, and on that it delivers.
