Unstoppable

Unstoppable (성난황소, 2018) is a Korean action-crime film you can watch online on iFILM. Director Kim Min-ho builds the whole picture around Ma Dong-seok: he plays Dong-chul, a former gangster turned fish-market porter who made a clean break from his old life and married Ji-soo, played by Son Ji-hyo. One badly-timed business investment leads to an argument. That evening Dong-chul comes home to a wrecked apartment and no wife.

A human trafficking ring has her. The police take their time. An anonymous caller offers cash to walk away. Dong-chul does not walk away. He pulls out the old leather jacket and starts working through the problem the only way he has ever been good at. The film then becomes what it was always going to be.

There are comic beats alongside the violence, and the balance lands better than it should. Ma Dong-seok's sheer physical presence carries scenes that would collapse under a less committed actor — his Dong-chul is scary and sympathetic in the same frame, which is the whole trick.
