Synopsis
Miranda (2009) is a British BBC sitcom you can watch online on iFILM. A tall, clumsy joke-shop owner keeps landing in cringe-worthy messes — then turns to the camera to confess each one.
Behind the counter, Miranda works alongside her posh best friend Stevie, who treats retail like a military operation. Her mother Penny is on a relentless mission to marry her off and broadcasts it to everyone in earshot. Next door runs Gary, the restaurant chef and old university crush who reduces Miranda to a stammering wreck. Every attempt to act like a poised grown-up collapses into a pratfall, a stuck handbag or a lie she can no longer climb out of.
Miranda Hart created and wrote the show herself, growing it out of her own radio comedy and building it around the old habit of talking straight to the audience. The humour is broad, physical, almost music-hall — comfort viewing after a long day. Tom Ellis, later of Lucifer, plays Gary. Stream Miranda online on iFILM.
