The Cured

The Cured (2017) is an Irish horror-drama you can watch online on iFILM. Writer-director David Freyne starts from an unusual premise: the zombie virus has been beaten, a cure exists, and three-quarters of the infected have been brought back. The problem is that they remember everything they did.

Elliot Page plays Abbie, a war-widow taking in her brother-in-law Senan — one of the newly cured — while public resentment towards reintegrated survivors simmers into open hostility. A small and fully unhealed minority of the infected resist the cure, and Senan is slowly pushed toward a choice between the life he's rebuilt and loyalty to those who understand what he's carrying around in his head.

The film earns its place by ditching the usual survival mechanics and treating the zombie premise as social parable: guilt, trauma and the limits of public forgiveness.
