About

Synopsis

Cannonball (1976) is a Paul Bartel action comedy you can watch online on iFILM. An illegal race tears across the United States — no rules, no speed limits, no respect for the law.

Coy "Cannonball" Buckman (David Carradine) points his blazing red Pontiac east, from the Santa Monica pier all the way to New York. A hundred thousand dollars waits at the finish, along with a slot on the elite Modern Motors team. The field plays dirty, and none dirtier than the arrogant Cade Redman, who'll wreck anyone in his path. Buckman, meanwhile, has no clue his own brother has bet a fortune on him.

It came out of Roger Corman's shop right as the road-anarchy craze peaked, a year after Bartel's cult Death Race 2000. Watch the bit parts: a very young Sylvester Stallone shows up among other soon-to-be names. Loud, fast and tongue-in-cheek, it's aimed at anyone who loves seventies pile-ups and demolition-derby gags. Stream Cannonball (1976) online on iFILM.
