El Alamein: The Line of Fire (2002) is an Italian war drama from director Enzo Monteleone that you can watch online on iFILM.
In the autumn of 1942, a Palermo university student named Serra (Paolo Briguglia) volunteers for the African front and lands in the Pavia Division, dug in along the southern edge of the Egyptian line. His first enemies aren't the British at all — they're the heat, the thirst, the hunger and the grinding boredom of the trenches. Then Montgomery's Eighth Army attacks, and whatever romance the war had simply burns away: death comes with no heroism and no point.
Monteleone frames the famous desert clash from the boots of an ordinary Italian conscript — poorly armed, outmatched, but holding his ground. Pierfrancesco Favino and Silvio Orlando fill out the squad. There's no general's triumph on offer here, only dust, fear and a long, broken walk back toward home. A bleak, honest anti-war film for viewers who prefer the soldier's-eye truth to sweeping battle spectacle. Stream El Alamein: The Line of Fire (2002) online on iFILM.
