Game of Thrones: The Last Watch
A farewell to Westeros with the people who built the realm
Synopsis
Game of Thrones: The Last Watch (2019) is an HBO documentary you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Jeanie Finlay with a year's worth of access to the production of the show's final season. At 108 minutes, it goes far past a standard making-of: Finlay was embedded in the mud of Northern Ireland through the entire shoot.
The camera follows crew members who built Westeros piece by piece — set designers, prosthetics artists, extras who drove hours for a single day of battle — alongside Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage and the rest of the cast as they face punishing deadlines, frozen outdoor shoots and a fandom desperate for any scrap of information. There's a man who spent years laying cobblestones on a set that no longer exists. He cries when they tear it down. That detail is what separates this from promotional content.
It's a document about what it actually costs, in human terms, to build a world and close it. Stream Game of Thrones: The Last Watch online on iFILM.
