Synopsis
Moone Boy (2012) is an Irish comedy series you can watch online on iFILM — created by and starring Chris O'Dowd (The IT Crowd), drawn loosely from his own childhood growing up in small-town Ireland in the 1980s.
Eleven-year-old Martin Moone is the youngest in a large, slightly chaotic family in the quiet town of Boyle. O'Dowd plays Sean Murphy, Martin's imaginary friend and self-appointed life coach — well-meaning, often useless, always there when real problems feel too big to handle alone. David Rawle plays Martin with exactly the right blend of exasperation and earnestness.
O'Dowd aimed for something warmer than parody: the show knows precisely how small a small town feels at that age and how enormous its minor dramas seem anyway. Paul Rudd and Steve Coogan both show up in guest spots. Stream Moone Boy online on iFILM.
